Orion is a specialist growth style investment manager which is 42% owned by Treasury Group. Whilst Orion invests predominantly in companies on the ASX, it does have international investment skills and is permitted to invest some of the funds under the Premium Investment Mandate overseas.

Orion relies on its superior skills in evaluating a company’s prospects for growth in earnings to build its investment portfolio. This research driven strategy involves company visits and the use of relative valuation techniques and balance sheet analysis with a view to identifying stocks that the market is currently undervaluing.

Orion adopts a multiple portfolio manager approach to portfolio construction, whereby each of its three senior investment managers develops a portfolio based on the ideas generated by the research process and the three portfolios are combined to produce the final portfolio.

The Investment Director for Orion is Tim Ryan who established his reputation as a leading growth style manager of Australian equities with leading institutions before founding Orion in February 2003. Orion won the Morningstar Emerging Investment Manager of the year for 2004.

Tim Ryan is supported by two experience investment managers in Dushko Bajic and John Lobb and a trainee investment analyst, Tristan Patience.
